Gran Habano Gran Reserva Maduro Limitada #5 2011 Imperial Cigar Review – This 6×60 stick features a very dark chocolate thick firmly packed mottled silky wrapper with medium veins, tight invisible seams, large triple cap and pungent barynyard and cocoa aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with mild-medium bodied smoke of a soft sweet light earth with an oily mouthfeel and short clean finish. The first third burns so-so with quite a wavy burn and while it has a good draw, barely puts out any smoke even with double puffs. Flavors are straight mild light sweet earth with a long finish of the same. The 1/2 way point comes at 35 minutes needing a huge touchup, almost a relight. The whole cigar is warm and squishy, flavors are a milt straight tobacco and it requires multiple puffs to keep going. Ending at 1:45 after multiple large touchups, the last third was more of the same.
