Tabacos Baez Serie H Robusto Cigar Review

This 5×50 stick features a dark tan dry thin wrapper with a few small veins, tight pack, triple cap, tight seams and a rich nutmeg and spice aroma. First light reveals a good raw with plentiful smoke output giving medium bodied flavors of an earth core and potpourri/gingerbread/nutmeg flavors holding through the long finish. It’s not especially smooth, there’s a bit of bite to the smoke but it’s not rough in the throat. The first third burns slowly taking 1/2 an hour to finish up. Flavors quickly drop the spice and move to an earthy, burned caramel, a very deep flavor profile. The finish is long with the same flavors, keeping the bit of sharp bite. The 2nd third morphs just slightly, taking a lighter note shifting to a general sweetness to the earthy core, losing the bit of roughness and leaving a creamy oily slick in the mouth. Ending at 1:25 the last bit showed no further changes.

Takes a droppin and keeps on choppin! Love my Cuban Crafters cutter! Thanks for the recommendation on that one. The Xikar EX..meh. Kinda pooped out on me after a couple months. I keep a dead Bic to spark it. (too lazy to send it in) Thanks Brian!

    Bryan,

As you know what time of the day, what you have eaten or drank will effect what you taste.. Do you smoke your review smokes at different times to get a true flavor?

    I truly enjoy your reviews.

    Thanks,

    BN

    • Time of the day plays very little part in the overall experience, mostly how much nicotine is going to effect you – and even big meals don’t save me from being sick from a full strength stick. As for eating and drinking I do 99% of my reviews hours after eating anything or before eating anything, and never drink anything but water, usually nothing at all during the review.

Thanks for the info..yes strength is not effected by what ones eats or drinks. I have found taste is effected.

Thanks agin and I look forward to you reviews. They have added to my enjoyment.

    • Well I guess everyone is different 🙂 For me it’s the other way around 😉 But in any case, my reviews are consistent in what I do around that time that would effect them, I don’t want anything to taint them!

This cigar is a great priced everyday stick, it’s great for middle of the day

I was interested in purchasing a few Tabacos Baez cigars, but then I saw the price. I notice that they actually make cigars with short filler and they are very cheap in price. What I am wanting to know is the experiences you have all had with this brand and if the cigar is a reflection of the price(cheap) or if they are a bang for the buck smoke. Thanks a lot.

You were absolutely correct Bryan. I ordered some of these 7 months ago and while not bad, they didn’t overly impress. 7 months in the humidor has turned them into above average sticks. For the money, a great stowaway cigar.
