Montecristo Reserva Negra Toro Cigar Review

This 6×54 cigar features an almost black slightly toothy and squared off wrapper with a few small veins, tight seams, a very firm even pack, double cap and soft soapy aroma. First light reveals a construction problem with the cap not being glued on and popping right off after being cut. Flavors are a smooth dry tobacco, medium bodied with a long almost chemical aftertaste on the finish. Draw is perfect and smoke production is excellent. The first third needs a touchup, with the burn going wonky fairly quickly. Flavors mellow to a mild-medium dry tobacco and a bit of pepper over the tongue with a short clean finish of the same. The 2nd third continues to burn unevenly even after a retouch. Flavors come back to a solid medium body, dropping the pepper for a slight grittiness to the smoke and adding a bit of sweetness on the draw, while the finish grows longer. 50 minutes in starting the last third it required more touchup, and after doing so a touch of leather and nuts come out but it quickly goes away back to the same flavors. Ending at the hour mark where it got too hot for my taste the last third remained consistent. Thank you very much to viewer Tan for sending this in for review!
