Dante Robusto Cigar Review

This 5×50 stick features a dark chocolate mottled wrapper with minimal veins, tight invisible seams, small holes tears and imperfections, triple cap, firm lumpy pack and a rich musty chocolate aroma. First light reveals a slightly snug draw with good medium bodied smoke output showing a huge black pepper blast with both the flavor and zing. A short earthiness is on the draw but then it’s like you took a pepper grinder and twisted it over your tongue until the next draw. The first third very quickly drops all interesting flavors, just going to a mild damp tobacco and ashtray aftertaste. The draw opened up to a good amount with a great burnline and smoke production, but flavors are a 180 from the first light. The 1/2 way point came and went with the same profile just adding a bit of strength that pretty much takes over the experience since flavors were so mild. It required a complete relight, just going out on it’s own. Ending at 40 minutes where it got hot on my lips, it proved to be exceptionally plain.

Strong yet somehow mild, you say?

    • Strength is nicotine body is flavor intensity. Watch my how to smoke a cigar vid for lots of info 🙂

Been smoking cigars for forty years, Bryan.

You said you were getting a strength buzz, and that it was still mild, all in the same breath. Take another look.

        • As I explained in the vid even though it didnt have that much absolute strength it was giving me the buzz because it was relatively strong compared to the mild body.

I don’t know what to make of San Andreas tobacco, some are weird some are not so much.

  • Don

I saw these at my local Cigar Shop. Wasn’t sure if I should try them. Somebody compared them to JM’s Dominican, which I actually like. Some people don’t like them, though.

I’ll pass, thanks for the review

  • Walshy

Well that sounded like a very boring cigar. I know I’m not one for a bit of strength with no taste. Yeah I’ll pass. Love the toss at the end.

I will pass on this Cigar
    Tthanks for the review

I had seen a review comparing Dante with Tatuaje Anarchy….Guess not…..

    • I know which one you are talking about. First, that was not the same cigar. Second, it was just one small part that was compared. Don’t forget different sizes can be completely different experiences, in cigars.

Thanks for taking one for the team.
Life’s too short for bad cigars, thanks for steering us clear.
