Arturo Fuente Don Carlos #4 Cigar Review

Posted on Monday, August 17, 2009 in Cigar Reviews

This 5.1×43 stick offered a surprisingly long cool smoke time of 1 hour to the band! If you prefer your smoke a little warmer you could easily take it another 15 min. Burn and draw were flawless all the way down, with a light grey ash dropping every inch. Flavors included a silky smooth and rich woodiness to a creamy and slightly sweet roasted nut. The body was mild-medium with a short clean finish. Excellent for a morning smoke! . This review was sponsored by:

Hey thanks a lot! Don’t forget to pass the word :)

Nice review! I lean more towards the bigger ring gauges myself, but some smaller ones have awesome flavors (Tempus). I also HATE the Fuente bands! It is so frustrating to get a stick with a non-descript band on it and never have a clue what you are smoking without doing research!

Keep up the great reviews man!

Thank you! Yeah I really wish they would revise the labels. I guess they assume everyone buys and stores in boxes?

Feunte’s don’t do much for me. I’ve smoked some with several years of age on them and they were ok. I’ve smoked the Opus X, Fuente Sun Grown and was not impressed.

For the money, I’d much rather grab a Pepin, Oliva, LFD, etc. Way too many better cigars out there. Just my 2 cents.

P.S. I’m also disappointed that Fuente doesn’t do anything about most their dealers price gouging the Opus X and Anejos. Ex. Cigar.com charges $37 for a Perfecxion #2 when the MSRP is $15.

Yes, the out of control markup is shameful. I never call a stick good or bad based on flavor – that is purely subjective. While I agree, there are other sticks for the money that appeal to me much more such as Padrons and some RPs, I’ll won’t say ‘better’. The Fuentes may not be our favorite flavor combos, but they are excellent cigars construction wise, for sure.
