This 5.5×50 stick features a very dark brown broadleaf wrapper with a firm, dense pack, slight tooth and slick oil sheen, minimal veins, tight seams, large double cap with flared pigtail and a sweet cedar and manure aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with plentiful rich, smooth smoke production showing medium bodied flavors of an oily meaty earth followed by a thick gritty mouth feel on the finish building a deep pepper and slight spice. The first third ramps body up to medium-full continuing the smooth savory core adding a nice sweetness. The finish drops most o the pepper keeping the oily slick and heat, while the foot produces a non-stop plume of light smoke until the next draw. 30 minutes in almost to the 1/2 way point the ash falls off in a solid chunk, body is still at medium-full with no strength, draw flavors drop the savory and add some cream while the finish drops all the pepper and heat. 1 hour in at the band point a bit of strength is detectable and the sweetness on the draw takes a little more defined flavor like a subtle dried cherry. Ending at 1:15 where it got too hot for my taste the last bit remained unchanged. Thank you very much to Drew Estate for sending two in for review samples!
