Alec Bradley Maxx Brazil Robusto Cigar Review

This 5×50 stick features a dark chocolate, oily and mottled wrapper with medium veins, raised seams, a few rough patches, holes and stretches, a firm light pack, double cap and faint musty damp, dusty aroma like a vacuum bag. First light reveals a good draw with minimal smoke output showing mild-medium bodied flavors of a slightly bitter cedar with a very smooth creamy textured, oily mouthfeel and long finish. The first third picks up the smoke a bit, dropping the bitterness just going to a straight dry cedar with a parched finish. 25 minutes in at the 1/2 way point I drop the ash off, smoke output is up, burn is perfect and body is at medium. The draw flavors are a little more complex with a charred sweetness that goes right to a cedar, then a plain tobacco through the finish, which has a ashtray taste to it, if that makes sense. Luckily the flavors shift in the last third to a sweet tangy tobacco, leaving a savory flavor through the finish to end it out at 50 minutes.
