Opus X Reserva D Chateau Cigar Review
This 7×48 cigar features a dark brown soft and spongy wrapper with a fairly rustic roll, minimal veins, tight invisible seams, triple cap, oily paper bag feel and faint pepper and tobacco aroma. First light reveals a very full body smoke with a light draw giving flavors of a smooth musty, deep and earthy tobacco, bit of sweetness and big oil through the finish. The first third shows more full bodied flavor with a very smooth complex blend of twangy flavors. That’s what I call a combo of black pepper, slight cayenne and citrus! The core is a smooth deep earth and tobacco, mixing well with the twang through the long finish. Smoke output and draw is excellent. 30 minutes in just hitting the 2nd third, body goes down a bit to medium-full, shifting to a very creamy smooth textured cinnamon and pepper with the same nice tobacco and zing. 45 minutes at the 1/2 way point flavors remain unchanged, the burn is razor sharp, smoke output is plentiful and thick, and the strength finally starts coming in, making me a bit light headed. 55 minutes in ending the 2nd third, flavors shift a bit dropping down the heavier earth replacing it with a nice creamy taste to go along with it’s texture. The cream goes very well with the sweet cinnamonish flavors and pepper zing through the finish. Ending at 1:15 the last bit showed no further changes, simply continuing the great performance.
