This is a semi-informal review of the new, as-yet-unnamed ‘Ultra-Premium Cigar’ from Drew Estate, to be fully revealed live on May 6th on the DE Facebook page. I don’t have any specs other than it’s dark chocolate, very dense and firmly packed with an oily, toothy wrapper and pours off full bodied smoke with rich, thick chewy flavors of a light earth, slight sweet cocoa and big pepper and cayenne sweet spice combo that grows on the long finish. The first third quickly shifts to a medium body with the spice mellowing to match the rest. The cocoa takes the forefront on the draw and builds through the finish where a sight char flavors adds in. The retrohale amplifies everything especially the cocoa. The 1/2 way point comes at a slow 40 minutes with the smoke going a bit smoother and creamier textured adding a hint of cinnamon as the sweetness morphs. The cocoa is still there and the pepper dies down. Ending at 1:20 the last third drops the sweetness and cinnamon going to a dark cocoa, heavy smoky earth all on a long finish with a hint of pepper joined by a matching medium strength kick.
