Deadwood Fat Bottom Betty Maduro Robusto Gordo Cigar Review – This 5×54 stick features a fairly firm densely packed dark chocolate wrapper with minimal veins, tight but visible seams, a very oily toothy feel and very pronounced sweet cocoa aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with HUGE plumes of thick smoke yet showing straight mild notes of a sweetened tip sugar, tiny bit of sweet cocoa and a little oily pepper bite on the long finish. Just a few puffs in, the first inch or so went crispy and hard, completely extinguishing like a switch just sitting in the ashtray. The first third brings more of the same, acting like it wants to go out. It’s pouring off 10x as much foot smoke as on the draw with hardly any flavor at all. The sweetened tip sugar is gone just leaving a trace of sweet cocoa and pepper. 25 minutes in at the 1/2 way point the burn is better, now giving mild-medium notes of a syrupy sweet cocoa and nutmeg through the finish, with the hint of pepper just before the next draw. Ash falls in a solid chunk and the draw is perfect. Ending at 45 minutes the last third came up to a medium body with a matching strength, getting deeper in the cocoa notes and leaving a bit of a rush.
