Bodega Reunion Digestivo Maduro Corona Gorda – this 5 5/8×46 stick features a very dark brown thick rustic wrapper with a dry paper bag like texture, small veins, tight seams, large double cap and pungent damp musty wood aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with plentiful smoke that pours out even from the foot, showing a mild bodied flavor of a soft sweet floral and light cedar that all sticks through the long finish. The first third completely changes, going to a smooth medium bodied mocha and soft caramel with plumes of rich thick oily smoke. Burns quick but very straight. The 1/2 way point comes at 20 minutes dropping the ash in 1″ chunks. Body holds steady while the sweet caramel dies down replaced by a little pepper kick that has a spice left on the lips. Ending at 55 minutes the last third snugged up a bit and slowed the burn while the flavors went to a generic sweet earth dropping the pepper.
