La Aurora Puro Vintage 2005 Cigar Review
This 6.25×52 stick features a salomon shape so of course there is ring gauge variance through the length. The wrapper is a dark tan firmly packed satin finished leaf with minimal veins, tight invisible seams and a slight dusty soft wood aroma. First light reveals a great draw providing mild-medium smooth slightly sweet woody notes with plenty of smoke output and a long finish. The first third takes work getting past the tapered foot that doesn’t like to burn on it’s own. Flavors are much the same adding a slight musty tobacco that comes and goes sharing the draw notes with the smooth woodiness that lingers with a bit of pepper for the finish. Burn is very good and very slow. Hitting the 1/2 way point at 55 minutes the construction is perfect, the ash is solid and flavors are unchanged. The band point comes at 1:40 needing another small cut to open the draw back up, it had been getting a bit snug over the previous 20-30 minutes. Flavors are the same on the draw but body is up to medium, while the finish drops the zing adding a deep earth and pepper. Ending at 2 hours the last bit just adds a small touch of strength to the mix. Thank you very much to Miami Cigar & Co for providing this sample for review!
