La Aurora Preferidos Gold No. 2 Tubed Cigar Review
This 5×54 perfecto features a firm, slightly toothy dark brown wrapper with a couple medium veins, tight thick seams, firm even roll and very sweet barn and hay aroma. First light reveals very full body flavors of a deep slightly bitter earth with a big oily pepper and spice that lasts well until the next draw, giving a hot zing through the mouth making me salivate. The first third develops very similarly, staying full bodied, carrying a huge thick woodiness with a sweet spicy kick and long finish. Draw is perfect, burn is very good. 25 minutes in at the 1/2 way point the strength is starting to pick up, flavors remain the same but body has mellowed a touch to medium-full. Just before the band point it needed a large touchup, the wrapper had lagged way behind the filler but burned fine since. 40 minutes in starting the last third flavors finally transition away from the overpowering wood to a medium-full dark chocolate and coffe, still with a touch of wood and sweetness and the same long finish. Ending at 50 minutes the last bit went back to the big wood blast with a subdued sweetness. Thank you very much to the anonymous viewer who sent this in for review!
