La Palina El Diario Gordo Cigar Review

This 6×58 cigar features a dark chocolate oily wrapper with very firm even construction, minimal veins, tight invisible seams, a triple cap and an oily, musty aroma. First light reveals a very good draw, mild-medium body flavors of a peppery musty tobacco with good smoke output. The first third brings out dry nut, tobacco and pepper flavors, leaving a parched mouthfeel on the draw. It’s a bit difficult to get much smoke out with a single puff, taking two vastly improves flavors. At the end of the 1st third 30 minutes in, flavors drop the nut just going to a heavy tobacco with an equally heavy finish. Strength also kicks up well above the body giving me quite a head rush. 45 minutes in at the 1/2 way point the ash drops in a solid chunk. The 2nd third comes ang goes with no transition, so far it’s a one-dimensional stick. Ending at 1:45 where it was too hot for me the last third showed no changes. Thank you to La Palina for sending this in for review!
