My Favorite Sticks

Posted on Thursday, June 10, 2010 in Informational

I get several requests for ‘what are your favorites’ each week, so I’ve gone ahead and created a short list. This is by no means a ‘Top’ list, simply what MY personal taste favs happen to be at the moment. If you find yourself agreeing with the flavors I tend to get from sticks, I would suggest you try all of these!

In no particular order:

Arturo Fuente Anejo
CAO Black
El Primer Mundo Rosado
El Titan De Bronze Redemption Maduro
Mi Barrio
Old Henry
Padron 1964
Pinar Del Rio Seleccion Reserva Limitada
Esteban Carrera
San Cristobal Lancero
Sir Vin Cigars Merlin’s Magic

La Aroma De Cuba Edicion Especial Lancero Cigar Review

La Aroma De Cuba Edicion Especial Lancero Cigar Review

This 7.5×38 medium tan stick offers a smooth almost seamless wrapper with a triple cap and very small veins with firm construction. Overall a medium body stick it packs a medium-full power kick, giving a slight buzz about 1/2 way through. Flavors were extremely smooth from first light to the nub and included a creamy leather, vanilla, roasted nuts, dry tobacco and a pepper & spice kick at various points throughout. Burn was excellent, holding 1″ of ash at a time with a perfect draw just slightly on the firm side. Total burn time to the last inch was 1:20 where it started to get warm. The amount of buzz I received during this video may have been mitigated if I had not chosen this as my ‘just rolled out of bed cigar’. I would not suggest doing as I did :) Thank you very much to Ashton Cigars for generously donating this for review! Photography by BG Pictures.

San Cristobal Lancero Cigar Review

San Cristobal Lancero Cigar Review

This 7.5×38 stick offered an excellent burn and great draw, slightly on the firm side with just the right amount of resistance all the way down. Flavors were rich, intense and bold – yet utterly smooth and never more than medium bodied. Several flavor transitions were present, with some flavors swapping, others coming and going at points. The combinations were very well blended and extremely enjoyable. I picked up combinations of bread, oily leather, earth, cocoa, coffee, espresso, touches of pepper and cream. The finish was long with most of the draw flavor hanging around washing over your mouth. The smoke was especially thick and rich, chewy at points. Pinar Del Rio Sungrown Lancero Cigar Review

Pinar Del Rio Sungrown Lancero Cigar Review

This 7.25×38 stick packed a whollup of spice through the first two thirds, that only calmed down at the end. I have had buffalo wings with less heat than this put off on my lips and tongue at the start! Besides the hot finish it offered a myriad of flavor combinations, changing up every 10 draws or so. Total smoke time to the band was 1:30 with a perfect firm draw and straight burn. Flavors included tobacco, leather, bread, barnyard and nuts – all very smooth and creamy with rich voluminous clouds of smoke. Thank you very much to Pinar Del Rio Cigars for generously donating this stick for review, it’s greatly appreciated! Photography by BG Pictures.
