Herrera Esteli Toro Especial By Drew Estate Cigar Review

This 6×52 stick features a dark brown firmly packed wrapper with minimal veins, tight invisible seams, triple cap, slight tooth and potent peppery sweet hay aroma.  First light reveals a perfect draw with plumes of full bodied smoke showing a sweet nut, leather, pepper and building spice through the long finish with a thick chewy mouthfeel.  The first third mellows a tick to a medium-full body with the sweetness and pepper also coming down.  The core is a dry nuttiness leaving a parched feeling through the long finish.  Hitting the 1/2 way point at 35 minutes the 2nd third changes to a lighter nuttiness on the start of the draw quickly followed by a deep leather that further shifts to a general earthiness through the finish.  The pepper comes back in joined by a substantial smoked meat sensation lasting to the next draw.  Ending at 1:10 the last third goes hot with an inch remaining showing perfect construction and a strength bump to medium.  Flavors shift to a creamy leather on the draw followed by a sweet creamy nut on the full finish.

Yep, the El Norteño is a very dry smoke also.

Hey Brian I noticed that the band you have in this video is different from the one offered retail. Is that because you’re is an older one?

    • Looks the same to me. I’m not aware of any band changes from them.

I’m pretty sure that the band in you video had the word by in between Herrera esteli and drew estate while the ones on slot or online retailers don’t have that and have Nicaragua in it. Btw after seeing this video i scoured the Internet and managed to find a box of lanceros.

        • Oh duh I’m blind. This one was recent from Atlantic from one of my samplers. Googling shows they made the change back in 2013 this is the new one.

Ohh ok cool that makes sense. As always thanks for the great review. Keep it up.

This is a new HE band…the older ones had “Imported from Nicaragua” at the bottom.

The last 3 Herrera Esteli Robusto Extras were total bummers, flat in the flavor dept and sub-par construction (plain like you mentioned in the video) the lancero is my favorite of the Herrera’s…I’m on the Liga side, I’d take a No.9, T52 or Unico..

I managed to find a box of lanceros at msrp. I hope that they roll more of those bad boys.
