CLE Connecticut Diadema Cigar Review

This 48x54x48 stick features a bowling pin shape, medium tan slick glove soft wrapper with an even slightly spongy give, minimal veins, tight invisible seams, triple cap and rich potent cedar aroma. First light reveals a great draw with medium bodied light & airy smoke showing creamy textured syrupy wood flavors with a long finish adding a touch of pepper zing. The first third keeps the same profile just producing a slightly thicker smoke. Performance is flawless with a perfect draw and razor sharp burn. 25 minutes in at the 1/2 way point the draw has shifted to a medium-full body of a cherry nut with a sweet syrupy wood and earth finish. Ending at the hour mark, the last third holds the same flavors but adds quite a strength kick evening out with the body at medium-full. Getting too hot for me with an inch remaining it had perfect construction all the way through. Thank you very much to viewer Ken Cioffredi for sending this one in for review!

I’ve been curious after seeing this cigar pop up. I’m wondering if its the same thing as the wynwood he put out but rebranded and keeping them all on the CLE name.
Do you know anything about this?
Or have you ever had a wynwood to compare?

    • http://www.cigarobsession.com Bryan Glynn

      No idea sorry

    • JJO

Although I haven’t had either yet, they are definitely different blends (the Wynwood has a Habano wrapper). I have had the CLE Corojo and Cuarenta, and both are really nice sticks.

nice review, have been seeing this brand a lot lately , Connecticut usually don’t do it for me but for a freebie or a great deal why not! thx.

  • garlar10

Sounds like a cool cigar. Light shade but with lots of flavor and some kick. I am adding this to my wish list.

  • Jason Isbaner

Looks interesting enough, for the right price ill try just about anything!

  • TimB

Not have this CLE before sounds like an everyday stick.

    Hey Bryan,

I’m looking to invest into a quality cutter and lighter. I know you have multiple reviews of both, but I really just want to know one cutter and one lighter you really prefer and would recommend over others.

    Thanks!

    • Craig

Howdy KP. After watching Byran use the Cuban Crafters Perfect Cutter in video after video, I decided to purchase the exact same model. And I have to admit, I Love It !!! Its my favorite cutter by FAR. As for lighters I’ve been buying the Ronson Jetlite’s at Wal-Mart for $3.98. I’ve refilled my first several times now and it still works great. I’m sure I just jinxed it and it won’t light for me tonight. lol……..

Based on Bryan’s reviews, I just purchased a CC as well. They only had the new style with smaller finger holes. My first one was defective, so waiting for my replacement. Hopefully I can be a fan as well shortly.

        • Fabbio

My cc perfect cutter is going strong 5 years in. Gets a lot of attention at the local lounge. Someone once offered me cash for it. Couldn’t part with it. New ones are still good but much smaller finger slots you right

        • http://www.cigarobsession.com Bryan Glynn

It’s not new and old – they have multiple models. I only like the original http://www.amazon.com/Cuban-Crafters-Stainless-Perfect-Cutter/dp/B003MAZ9YW

          • kprichardson7

Thanks guys, I’ll check out the perfect cutter. How about the Xikar Xi1? Is it worth spending the $50-$60?

  • rgorman

My brother gave me one of these about two weeks ago. I am a maduro/oscuro fan but CLE blew me away much the same as Bryan was with it’s body and flavor profile. Great cigar.

  • Tommz81

Never seen these before but a must try for sure.

  • rockjock

Sounds like one to seek out. Most Connecticuts lack enough flavor for me. Then again, I usually like to smoke after lunch or in the evening.

    • gtclark

Same here – this might be a Connecticut I’d enjoy.

      • Fabbio

The zen by nish Patel are great. I was connecticut snob but these made me reconsider

  • USA2ndAmendment

This sounds like a good cigar I would enjoy, but I have never seen/heard of this brand until now. I’ll have to keep an eye out for it.

  • vscarpine

I have one of these sitting in my humidor might be my next cigar I enjoy

  • geekfish

Nice review. I like a stronger Connecticut. This one sounded interesting

  • rgmenke

    Another great review.
Bryan, I do have a unrelated question. Are the torches new? I was wondering where you got them?

    • http://www.cigarobsession.com Bryan Glynn

      Nope. Walmart

  • dbfr181

    Seems like a great stick

  • eric.hanson

I got one of these in a sampler not too long ago, I got to say after seeing this review I’m not sure that this stick is one I’d like, but I’ll give it try. Thanks for the review.

  • Dirk

I am going to find this one.. I am interested in a fuller bodied Connecticut. I have almost stopped sampling Connecticuts. Thanks again..

  • smokethis

    Nice review. A nice stick.

  • MorganGeo

I keep a few of these in robusto size in my humidor. It goes great in the afternoon with a cup of coffee in my opinion. My experience is that its real smooth creamy smoke with hints of sweetness towards the end. Pretty pleasant.

  • chief791

I am glad you enjoyed this stick that i sent you. I’m not a huge Connecticut fan, but i love these.

  • weimerad

    An underrated cigar

  • Grove52

Been watching your reviews for a few years now Bryan and as much as I try to puruse other sites for a review for a stick that you may have not gotten to do yet, I always find myself disappointed. lol You simply just give the best reviews! Every other site with video reviews, I almost find myself bored by long trailing ramblings or annoyed by them all together. So I hope you don’t plan on giving this up any time soon cause I don’t know where’d i’d look for information, insight, and reviews haha

  • Chaz

Sounds a lot like the epc New wave Connecticut… one of the only I have tried that I find very favorable. Hmmm…

  • HerbalJedi

Sounds very interesting, I like conn. wrappers. have to try to find one.

  • MaxDuo

Sounds interesting, as others (and you) have said. Nothing I’d rush to the store for, but I’d like to try it out someday.

Favoriting it as a reminder later on, just for the sake of having some different flavor profiles stored up for the future :)

Though the ending may be a bit unfun!

  • Andrew

Mr. Eiroa defies common Connecticut profiles…no surprise there! Great review, Bryan. Thanks as always!
