Tatuaje 7th Capa Especial Cigar Review

This 5 7/8×46 stick features a dark brown ashy colored wrapper with a firm pack, smooth texture, minimal veins, slight stretch marks, tight seams, triple cap and damp wood aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with huge plumes of full bodied smoke showing rich savory earth tobacco and pepper on the draw with a long finish that adds in a zing and spice kick over the tongue. The first third quickly develops to a medium-full sweet cream and cedar, with a smooth short finish just leaving the zing and slight bite. Hitting the 1/2 way point 35 minutes in it proves to be quite a slow burner with perfect construction, holding the ash in thirds. Flavors are largely the same just swapping the cedar for a light earth. Ending at 50 minutes with a very hot last inch remaining, the 2nd 1/2 proved to be very consistent. Thank you to viewer Kevin Walsh for sending this in for review!

I haven’t had a Tatuaje yet and that needs to change. Great Review!

  • Jason Isbaner

  • LunchBox87km

  • Daniel.A

sounds like something i MUST try. i love creamy flavors too. i’ve never had a Tatuaje before. ill be sure to try some soon.

  • TimB

I had seen Tatuaje but have not tried them.Had heard a lot of good things about them and I will definitely get some.Good review.

  • Great review of the Tatuaje, haven’t had one myself but sweet cream notes are always a good thing!

  • Sinsandman

great review again…add another to the list

  • dexter1

i had this one to me just overhype overprice

  • Walshy

Awesome Bryan, glad you enjoyed it. This one is definitely my go to stick. Great performance every time. Great review brother.

  • yosef5

    Thanks
Now I want to smoke one of these

  • Tommz81

    Sounds very tasty.

  • samgiroux42

I was given about 4 of these from my Incle and I had burn issues with both. I am beginning g to think that he mailed them to me with WAY too much humidity because he wet paper towels and wrapped them in foil. Very odd. This review has given me hope for the cigar and I will let them rest in my humidor a few more mo tha I make sure that they have come down smoggy to correct the burn issues. Thanks Bryan!

    • Andrew

I bought one of these from a cigar shop and smoked it the same day. I had no burn issues, so I think your hypothesis about over humidification is correct.

    • gtclark

That doesn’t sound like the ideal way to ship cigars…+1 for over humidification.

    • PAG

Tin foil? You have to explain the concept of zip-lock bags to that man.

      • CigarStrawn

Never had a cigar given to me wrapped in tin foil but my buddy once gave me a cigar wrapped in a soggy paper towel. We need to educate our companions on proper travel methods for our sticks.

  • rockjock

I bought a Tatuaje a few months ago. For some reason I just let it sit in my humidor. Maybe today is a good one to break it out and see how it goes. I have heard lots of good things about them across the lines.

  • vscarpine

Sounds good I have wanted to try this for a while now

  • dbfr181

Nice review! This looks like one I’d enjoy

  • Corey

Unfortunately, I was not impressed with this cigar, I might need to pick some more up

  • mufdvr6976

nice review, had a couple of tatuajes but not this one soinds like a smoke id enjoy.

  • Kalven

Never had a bad Tat myself

  • eric.hanson

Sounds like another great Tatuaje that I need to try somtime. Nice full bodied stick, good transitions sounds great!

  • phaedron

I’d begrudge Tatuaje for their marketing tactics but for the fact that their cigars really do, by and large, live up to the hype. I’ve got one of these in the humi awaiting an appropriately sublime period of leisure time. I’d recommend folks try the new Noella and Regio Reservas, too!

    • Craig

Glad you recommended the Noella. I’ve had my eye on that one for a week or two. Thanks!

  • wcfennell

Sounds like a good one, my local B&M always has a good selection of tatuajes so I’ll have to pick one up.

  • Gurneymonkey

Very nice review Bryan. I had heard some bad things about the Capa Especial, but your review has convinced me to give them a try.

  • jpculp57

Tats are good sticks, but just a little pricey. And the lower end Tats taste nothing like Pete’s better stuff.

  • rgmenke

This is another brand that is new to me. Thanks.

  • JJO

Funny that this is the cigar that sparked a firestorm of commentary on another well-known review site a couple of years ago, when it got a less than glowing review. Looks like I’ll have to finally get around to trying it sometime. Thanks to Walshy for sending it in for review.

  • jablaze

never had one but wanna try it, ive never heard of a meat like taste on the draw lol

  • seanking4

I’ve never had this brand before, I wish they carried it at the shop I usually buy my cigars. They sound like something I’d enjoy.

  • mikemagri

the tats seem to be on the up and up. only had a handfull but never had a bad one. one hell of a marketing campain. nice logo. cool ashtrays and gear.

  • weimerad

One of my favorite and more underrated Tatuaje cigars

    • smokethis

      Yep. Marvelous.

  • Romel

Looks like I need to add this one to my list. Sounds great from the review.

  • ctigers15

Nice Review, I enjoy most tatuaje, I’ll have to pick one up

  • Dirk

This stick appears to be right up my alley.. I really haven’t tried any Tatuaje as of yet.. I think I will be giving this one a whirl.. thank you again Brian.. great job.

  • MaxDuo

Sounds awesome. Definitely love sticks that can be almost dessert like. Sweet cream sounds good to me. Adding this to the favorite list to get sometime later!

  • puffrey

swapping cedar flavors for light earth with a peppery zing…that is the kind of transition I could get used to! Thanks to the viewer for sending and thank u Bryan

  • Gotta love Pete Johnson

  • nyccigarlover

This one sounds great, I’ll have to pick some up. I smoked the new Tatuaje Reserva Regios the other day which was awesome, perfect burn all the way down.

    • phaedron

And didja see the sparkling gold dust in the wrapper? Is it harmful to one’s health to smoke gold dust? 😉

  • swj045

just saw the review and I will have to try a couple of these.I try to stay away from the smaller ring gauges but this one is a must..

  • TheSmokingGunman

    I love any tatuaje

  • garlar10

Every Tatuaje I have had has been awesome. This one looks no different, if only they were cheaper lol

  • Boucher207

    wow sounds great!

  • 2dogdad

I will be keeping an eye out for this little number. Paul

  • HerbalJedi

Been wanting to try one of these for some time now. Should build myself a sampler to try their selection.
