Vallejuelo Robusto Cigar Review

Vallejuelo Robusto Cigar Review

This 5×50 stick features a firmly packed dark chocolate mottled wrapper with minimal veins, tight seams, triple cap and rich sweet chocolate aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with just a touch of resistance putting out copious amounts of thick rich full bodied smoke with zesty chocolate earth pepper and spice all with a rich long finish. The first third mellows quite a bit to a medium body still keeping the same blend and getting a bit smoother. The finish is very long carrying over a big bit of pepper and spice lingering over the tongue and lips to the next draw. The 2nd third goes by in 40 minutes continuing to decline in body now at a mild-medium, dropping the sweet chocolate leaving a mellow smooth earth on the draw. The finish drops the pepper and spice, growing shorter and cleaner. Ending at 1:10 the last third brings back a bit of the sweetness with an almost minty nut, also ramping up the strength. Thank you very much to viewer Arthur Cairo for sending this sample in!

This sounds like something I would enjoy. Chocolate, long finish, nut at the end. I’d love to try one.

    • MaxDuo

I agree, sounds great… shame everything weakens a lot for a little while at the mid. But nice sounding flavors for the first half and an interesting end.

Definitely favoriting this post as a reminder!

  • eric.hanson

Hmm, lots of Earth and pepper, those are two of my favorite flavors. I’ll keep an eye out for these

  • rgmenke

Yet another cigar I’ve never come across. The cigar universe is vast indeed. Sound like a great stick, especially the chocolate.

I enjoyed this stick. It was pretty good.

  • mfsaur

huh, never had a cigar with hints of mint, I’ll have to try this one!!

    • zzpop102

I have not either. Sounds interesting.

  • TimB

This one I will give a try sounds like the flavors are right up my alley.

  • Jason Isbaner

Sounds like an interesting stick, I might have to try it.

  • garlar10

Sounds interesting. Can’t say I have ever picked up on mint as a flavor in cigars before. Great review

  • Daniel.A

sounds like i found something to look forward to trying in the near future. chocolate and pepper. mmm

  • Jay D.

Minty Nut!? Pepper, spice, and chocolate with a bit of strength!? Wow, now that sounds delicious flavor pairing! Just added this stick to my have to try list.

  • JJO

This is a great bang for the buck line. I get some nice cinnamon notes from it too.

  • Tommz81

I got this in a sampler pack. Great smoke and like JJO says the price is not bad.

  • phaedron

A box of 20 is 80 bucks at Atlantic. At that price and with this review, that’s hard to pass up…

    • phaedron

I hate to respond to my own post, but I’ll make it good! First off, check out the Intercigar website at http://www.intercigar.com/intercigar.html. That’s the factory that makes these. Irritatingly, the tab for their brands is empty (“coming soon”) but what they wrote under the “Private Labels” tab is interesting given that many of us are wary of “house brands.” Also– after more searching, I found these robustos available at factorydirectcigars.com. A 20-ct box is $75 with free shipping. I happily pulled the trigger. Will anyone get bent out of shape if I send in one in my next lottery entry? I understand cheap-o’s are frowned upon, but what about a cheap-o that is well-reviewed on the site?

      • JJO

Send it in. It may be on the less expensive side, but having smoked a bunch of them (at least in robusto gorda and grand toro), I can tell you that it is not a “cheap” stick. It sounds like a lot of people here would like to try it. You can always balance it out with something else.

        • phaedron

Weel, the box arrived yesterday and, against my usual practice, I had one from right off the truck. It was fantastic– it rivals the Oliva V Melanio as my favorite new (or new-to-me) cigar I’ve tried this year.

          • JJO

            Glad you enjoyed it! :)

  • yosef5

    Minty finish
    Thanks for this review

  • samgiroux42

All flavors that I would enjoy. Love this site so that I don’t have to take too much of a risk in buying sticks I have not heard of.

  • wcfennell

Great review, it seems like there are so many great cigars out there that a lot of us have never heard of. Thanks for opening our eyes to the lesser known brands!

  • dbfr181

Seems like a good cigar! Not to much power is always a plus

  • Craig

I can’t say I’ve ever experienced a cigar with Minty Nut, Pepper, spice, and Chocolate. I will definitely have to try this one if I can find it. And after yesterdays video, I’m somewhat scared to order any cigars online at the moment. I’m sure that will pass as my humidors begin to decrease the few cigars they currently hold.

  • vscarpine

Sounds pretty good might have to add this to my next cigar run list

  • kurngar

I have had this cigar before, I almost didn’t smoke it cause one of the website said it was full strength, not a fan of full strength cigars, but I smoked it anyway and was impressed. Great review.

    • gtclark

I still see “strength” used to describe full flavored cigars… full strength and full flavor still mean the same thing to a lot of folks.

  • Pokesfan

WOW! This is exactly what I want from a cigar. I must have one, or 20.

  • byar

The toro has the same flavor profile. Very nice stick!

  • pato1001

I’ve heard a lot about these sticks, A lot of people have said some good things about this cigar, I’ve also heard that they are pretty reasonably priced! After seeing your review I might just order some now! Thanks.

  • mufdvr6976

this stick sounds good, nice review alot of flavors i enjoy gonna have to see how to get my hands on these!

  • 2dogdad

Sounds like an excellent stick. Hope to give it a try soon. Thanks, bryan. Paul.

  • TheSmokingGunman

    “almost minty nut”? Sounds awesome!

  • Romel

This stick sounds like a desert stick lol. Having said that, I’m definitely going to buy a few of them. Thanks foe the review Bryan.

  • Dirk

I too used to be put off by reports of full strength.. however I have discovered that many are full bodied..a couple months in the humidor seem to mellow most sticks for me. I too am interested in this one.. I too have yet to experience a minty nut taste in a cigar… thanks again for another good review.

  • zzpop102

I wonder which type of tobacco is giving it that minty flavor.

  • aec12

Nice review,I got the same flavor profile when I smoked these, also thanks a lot for the review Bryan. A.C.
