Guy Stuff – Smoked Chicken Noodle Soup

20130324scs0002-EditThis was originally just going to be a ‘healthy’ recipe on HLO, but it came out SO GOOD that it’s just simply AWESOME, healthy or not! The smoky flavor of the chicken REALLY makes this something special. It’s packed with flavor on multiple levels and keeps for days reheating perfectly. It’s time consuming to do, but simple and easy – totally worth it 🙂

To make this you’ll need:
Chicken
Italian Seasoning
Dill Weed
Salt
Pepper
Carrots
Celery
Mushrooms
Onions
Pecan wood for smoking
Low-sodium Chicken Broth
Egg-free Noodles

    with all of the big gas grills out there its funny how the charcoal grills still have the best taste.the pecan wood chips are great for grilling.noticed you have the charcoal on one side and the chicken on the other. you only need the heat and smoke to cook with,not the fire.this is one I will try real soon. now I am hungry and its 4 in the morning.. thanks for this outstanding recipe

    I’m a huge fanboy of soups, stews,chili, boiled, and braised pots. This one with pecan smoking looks really nice.i will have to try soon. Bryan, take your chicken bones after smoking and deboning the meat and freeze them. Then next time you can make a bone stock with a couple carrots and some celery. Substitute for some of your canned broth ounce for ounce. You will have a healthier soup (even less salt) and tastier with the bones deep flavor.

    You can smoke just about ANYTHING on those Weber grills and it tastes great! Chicken and salmon are our two favorites though. Thanks for the video recipe Bryan!

    Hmmm– “packed with flavor on multiple levels…” What I really need to know is what the flavor transitions are between the first third of the bowl and the second and the third… until the soup gets too cool for one’s taste and has to be ended there. (But seriously… looks great!)

    OK, I saw the picture and first thing came to my mind was “NO”. But I was wrong after watching u cook this dish all I have to say is “Where’s mine” lol I guess ill just have to try and make this myself.

    Under my wife’s orders, I left out the mushrooms and dill :(, but it still turned out exceptionally tasty. This is now my new favorite comfort food. Unbelievably, my picky 3y/o is on her third bowl!
