Black Crown Churchill Cigar Review

This 7×49 stick features a dark brown slightly mottled wrapper with minimal veins, tight invisible seams, triple cap, a thin dry feel, even slightly spongy give and a sweet raisin and tobacco aroma. First light reveals a great draw wit medium-full bodied flavors of a sweet peppery tobacco with a slick deep earth finish. The first third develops to a very heavy, deep sweet earth with a heavy but short finish. Construction is very good, the burn is straight and the ash is solid. 45 minutes in at the 1/2 way point the burn has increased a bit, keeping the same flavor profile but coming down to medium body and adding a little bit of strength. Ending at 1:20 the last third showed no further changes. Thank you very much to viewer Jimmy Thompson for providing this sample for review!

Hot Crow sounds like some terrible liquor. LOL!

Did you really call it a cheap stick. It’s become a very popular cigar at a great price break

Nice review Bryan, sorry about the rain. Up where I am in Cali it’s finally too cold to even enjoy any cigar once the sun goes down. I received two of these in a certain site’s COTM sampler. the first one I had was probably my 4th or 5th cigar of the day, and it was in a small(ish) lounge so I really didn’t enjoy it very much. The 2nd I had on my back porch and I would agree that sweet, deep earthiness was the main note. Very pleasant smoke, definitely one I’d go to again.

Try living in Maine! haha I only have a couple months to enjoy a cigar outside haha although im must say, a cooler night by a fire is always a nice way to smoke as well.

I’ve always wondered what the flavor characteristic “earthy” really meant. When you say a cigar tastes earthy, what tangible flavor/smell can you compare that to?

    • It’s always best to smoke something for yourself to see what a flavor is – I can’t describe it to you with words any more than earthy lol

I enjoyed this Cigar a great deal while walking the Dogs,on a cool crisp afternoon. I was surprised as well. and you are correct it did come in a Christmas Sampler from CI that my Wife bought me…You got a lot of the same flavors as I did. I really Like comparing, to see see how they match up…Thx

Looking forward to trying this one after the review.
From what Ive read this was made in the same factory as the Prensado, anybody know based on that, if AB had their hand in this one whatsoever other than the same factory?
I love AB sticks but haven’t been able to unearth any info further

Why do you not say. Whether or not to buy this cigar?

    • eric.hanson

The way he reviews is he talks about the performance, it’s up to you to determine if it’s something you’ll buy.

finally enojying this stick in toro right now. I was looking forward to it since I am a fan of AB, the Black Crown holds its own. I cant say that I recall having a cigar in the past that has that bit of raisin sweetness on the finish.
