Padron 1964 Anniversario Corona Natural Cigar Review

This 42×6 cigar features a dark brown slightly toothy, firm wrapper with minimal veins, tight seams, a few imperfection spots here and there, a rounded box press and faint soft tobacco aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with good smoke output showing full bodied flavors of a zingy musty aged tobacco and slight bitterness. The first third burns very quickly but brings out the typical Padron flavor profile. Cream, coffee, cocoa, smooth tobacco and a bit of pepper zing through the long finish – all silky smooth. Hitting the 1/2 way point in just 20 minutes, the ash holds on for an inch at a time and flavors remain the same, though very complex. Ending at 35 minutes the whole cigar stayed complex yet consistent. Thank you very much to True Tobacco for providing this sample for review!

    Great review Bry,
Haven’t seen this one in any of my local B&M’s but will start to look a little further. I absolutely love the 1964′s. by far my favorite smokes. Thanks Bryan, have a happy new year!!

I love the consistency of these cigar. I’m personally not a huge fan of major taste shifts through some cigars, give me a great flavor at the start and carry it to the end, I’m happy. Yeah 1964′s!!

what the difference between this one and the other 1964 corona you reviewed a few years ago? They seem to have completely different taste/performance

That’s a very good question! I have not smoked more than a handful of the Coronas to say with 100% certainty which was the odd-ball-out, but most have been on the faster burn side like this latest review. Both were smoked within a couple months of purchase/shipping so neither sat for any extended size. It was a few years ago though for that first (horrible) video, so perhaps something changed blend-wise since. Either way I like revisiting old favorites sometimes to see what happens!

I don’t think I’ve heard anyone say anything bad about a Padron 1964. Will definitely pick one up. Tried to smoke a Padron 3000 tonight but of course it started raining. Any chance of more reviews on the thousand series or any thoughts on what other Padrons to try?

Bryan which size of the 1964 woul you say is your favorite? I’ve had the Corona, exclusivo, and diplomatico an liked the exlusivo best. But I was thinking of getting a 5 pack of them soon nd just wonered if you think there’s a better size out there.
