Gurkha Ghost Asura Cigar Review

This 6×54 stick features a dark brown mottled wrapper with an even slightly spongy pack, a few small veins, tight seams, an oily fine sandpaper tooth and very rich oily tobacco and manure aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with tons of thick rich smoke output showing flavors of a rich peppery tobacco with a touch of sweetness and a long full finish. The first third absolutely pours out the smoke and flavor, going to a smooth, creamy textured sweet leather then quickly to a nut and pepper combo that sticks on the long oily finish. This is probably the smokiest cigar I have ever had, not only on the draw but just sitting there off the foot. Construction is perfect, no complaints. The 1/2 way point comes and the ash drops at 45 minutes in, with the only change being the pepper and little spice of the finish dropping off. All the other flavors are there still going full, with no strength kick yet at all. WOW The last third really kicks in the strength to FULL, making me feel it in every way possible! The flavors remain high, the finish is very heavy and deep down in to my chest and it makes my mouth constantly water! I can’t handle quite this much but many of you will really enjoy it. I’m ending with an inch left at 1:15 but it’s not warm at all, just too much for me! Thank you very much to Gurkha for sending this in for review!

Good review. I just received a collector’s tin of five Gurkha’s for Christmas. Never had a Gurkha before. Hoping they are good sticks! Have a happy New Year!

  • guarnacciad

Awesome review and a great smoke

  • Davex

    Bless you!

Great review, I must say that I have been disappointed by various Gurkhas in the past and thus have stayed away from them for the past year. This review however has encouraged me to give the Ghost a go. The flavor profile sounds enjoyable and I enjoy that strength kick. My concern is that I have found Gurkhas to be inconsistent in construction/burn and draw before.

Has anyone tried the Ghost that would care to give me their opinion on this?

Thanks again Bryan, without this review I never would have given this cigar a 1st look let alone a 2nd look!

  • Joy! My wife found me a couple of Ghost Exorcist…6*60…now to age them.

I had one of these today finally. It was decent. I enjoyed the flavor, to me mostly earthy with a little cocoa and coffee. Strength kick at the end was there and lasted a while after I was done. Sugar def helped.

I hate how these are retail only. They look so tasty but my local shop does not cary a lot of Gurkhas.

  • USA2ndAmendment

I have been trying to find one of these ever since they came out. The search goes on.

Geat review! Culdn’t agree more this stick has ton of smoke. I think it’s one of the best Gurkhas I’ve ever had!

  • gumby_130

Can’t find it around here.do you have to buy a box.

  • puffrey

Had to watch this again after your reference from the Flor de Las Antillas review. Still trying to get my hands one one of these.

Anybody have any luck on any deals?

    • pipebear333

HA! I did exactly the same thing. Sounds like a good smoke but I think I’ll pass on the nausea.

    • Dirk

I am with puffery on this one.. had to re watch this video after the review on Flor de Las Antilles.. sounds like a great stick however I am a light weight… better pass on this for now…

  • ryanmo45

I as well have been turned off by Gurkha over the last year or so except for the Gurkha special ops. Probably my favorite cigar. I am going to have to visit the ghost now and see what’s up.

  • Kace

Bryan is not kidding in the smoke output. I know it’s visible on the video but in person it’s like a billowing chimney. I think I’m disturbing the birds in the trees. There is some unsusal wing flapping going on up there. It’s either the smoke or mating season. Lol. Very nice cigar!!!

Hands down the best Gurkha I have had to date. Lots of earth and a sweet cocoa are the main flavors I get from this. Guy at my local shop carries them, he thinks these are B+M only (at least for now) because Gurkha is trying to support the B+M trade and because this is actually a really good smoke and not just some over-hyped money making stick. I dont know much about Gurkha’s business plan, but I will say that this a great, great cigar. As for the strength kick, I had the Shadow (5X52)and didnt get hit to hard by it. I have a pretty high tolerance though so I guess I’m not the best to gauge something like that. Either way, if you find some, get some. Period

To anyone interested in trying this stick, SmokeInn has one available in their weekly sampler this week. Just thought I’d spread the news to anyone interested in trying this unique Gurkha like I am, haha.

I love to watch your videos while I’m smoke the cigar that’s being reviewed and this Gurkha Ghost puts out ridiculous amount of smoke form the foot, it’s like a chiminea lol. The same goes for the draw too. But I love the flavors this cigar puts out, especially this being my first Gurkha. =]

    • eric.hanson

Ha me too, I always like to watch the video review of Byran doing the stick I’m havng onmy iphone while I smoke it.

  • thewolf66

The video was great and this stick is very good but the one thing I had was really bad burn issues. Was this the only sample you tried or did you smoke added stick for this review.

  • puffrey

ok so I am smoking the Ghost Shadow right now and 15 mns in I can already tell you it is by far my favorite Gurkha. Im not even sure the word Full can really do the body justice!

  • garlar10

This cigar looks amazing. Everything I have heard about this stick makes it sound like a winner. If only I could handle the strength I would pick one up. Too much ligira for me though. Thanks for the review!

  • amlosthere

I love Gurkha packaging and flavor profile, just gave always had issues with construction and draw

  • wcfennell

Just had this yesterday. One of the most flavorful cigars I’ve smoked and the strength didn’t hit me much at all. The foot smoke on it was ridiculous though, I couldn’t believe how much was pouring off of it. Overall great cigar.

  • socks

Just bought one. Will light it up this weekend. Looks yummy

  • Jason Isbaner

Just had this cigar and you were dead on, this is the smokiest cigar I have smoked. Great aroma though but wow even more smoke off the foot then you described. Overall good stick I enjoyed it very much. Thanks for the review!

  • casey

This one smokes off the foot even when you’re taking a draw. this must be why they call it the ghost. Thanks!

  • Greg Bellante

I had my 1st one tonight after a huge Danish dinner and it really did the job digesting the meal. It’s a very good cigar and Yes tons of smoke output but the Nica Rustica rivals it. I have had the Gurkha Ghost Angel before and the smoke out-put is the same. All in all a wonderful cigar and with a cup of Colombian coffee it’s great.
