San Cristobal Elegancia Imperial Cigar Review

This 6×52 stick features a dark tan smooth firm wrapper with minimal veins, tight seams, dry paper bag feel, triple cap and a sweet woody aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw with good thick smoke output, medium-full body flavors of a bitter peppery tobacco and a long bitter oily finish. The first third drops the bitterness but holds on to a rough almost pepper zing that goes to the back of the throat, like it needs several more months of aging to smooth out. Draw flavors are a mild-medium dry wood, very unlike the rest of the San Cristobals. By the 1/2 way point the roughness has come down a good bit but still there, mixing with a very dry tobacco and wood flavor, while the body is up to a medium with an oily slick left on the lips. Ending at 1:05 the last third showed no further changes.

Interesting. I like the regular San Cristobal, but taking into account the price on these, I’d be inclined to take a pass on these. There a lot of readily accessible and enjoyable mild/medium sticks out there.

I smoked an Elegancia about two months ago and remember it did have a roughness about it. Different blend means different age time I guess.

Hey Bryan, Thanks for the price info. on this stick, as the flavor of the stick is important so is the price. This makes the difference in weather I just try the stick or think of makeing it a regular.

I found this stick to be dry also, but not bitter. I’ve smoked 2 and both were very mild and not harsh. I smoked them both on the golf course and have to say that I experience different tastes out in the open air as opposed to when I smoke at home in the garage. Overall this isn’t as good as the Selection del Sol, but it’s a solid stick.

I got one of these not to long ago, based on your review I think I’m going to let it sit in my humidor for a year o so before I even think about smoking it.

I had one of these yesterday. I enjoyed them even though there was a slight roughness to them at first which hit the back of my throat. But the flavors were nice and blended well.

Just had one of these this afternoon. It was different than the rest of the san cristobals I have had but an enjoyable mild cigar and the price was right. I think picked this one up for about 7.50 which isnt bad for all the tobacco taxes in my area.
