Don Lino Africa Tembo Cigar Review

This 7.5×50 dark brown stick features an oily, thick wrapper with an extremely firm feel and pack, pronounced course tooth, small veins, tight seams and a damp musty aroma. First light reveals an initial sweetness on the lips and damp earthy flavors, shifting quickly to a medium bodied bitterness and tobacco on the lingering finish. Draw and smoke output are very good. The first third drops the bitterness quickly, going to a mild to medium creamy sweet wood with a slick short finish. 40 minutes in finishing the first third, flavors shift to a sweetness through the draw with a deeper earth and tobacco, dropping the pepper and bringing the body to a solid medium. The finish is longer and holds the earthiness until the next puff. 1:10 in just starting the last third, the draw flavors are joined by a slight creaminess, everything else remains the same with great performance. The last third showed no further changes and burned to the 1:50 mark with an inch remaining where it got too hot for my taste. Thank you very much to Stogieboys.com for sending this sample for review!

Ive always thought this cigar would be tricky to review. I pick up a unique essence from these.

I’ve heard the Don Lino Africa line isn’t bad, but the San Andreas Maduro sticks are a miss. They do have some great underlying flavors like sweet hay, cashews, a bit of caramel, and a hint of cocoa, but they have a harshness that increases as it burns. I haven’t been able to stomach one to the band yet, even after 8 tries and 4 months in the humidor (they do seem to be mellowing out though). I love Te Amo, except Revoution, and was hoping to add another Mexican cigar to the humidor, but it won’t be the Don Lino SA.

I love this cigar! My local shop for some reason can not sell these and have had the same box in the humidor for over a year and I’m pretty sure I’m the only one who buys them, which is fine with me cause they are one of my favorite “hidden” sticks and the extra age on them makes them some truly special. Great job on the review as always!
