La Palina El Diario Torpedo Cigar Review

This 6 1/8×52 stick features a dark brown mottled wrapper with a couple small veins, tight invisible seams, firm even construction, a smooth oily feel and damp wood aroma. First light reveals a perfect draw after cutting it back a few times, excellent thick smoke output with medium-full body flavors of a slightly sweet, peppery musty aged tobacco, with a short but thick oily finish. The first third shifts to a very plain, dry tobacco from the draw through the finish which got very long. It needed a minor touchup but it burning very slowly, finishing the 1st third in 40 minutes. 1 hour in just past the 1/2 way point it did need a quick relight when the ash dropped off. The flavors on the draw add a little bit of cream, otherwise it’s been the same flavor wise, however strength is building. Ending at 1:40 the last third went back to the first, just straight dry tobacco. Thank you to La Palina Cigars for sending this in!

Nice even-handed review. Not what I would expect from a $11-$12 stick. I’ll have to pass on this one. Thanks for the info.

You should try the Macanudo Vintage Maduro 1997. Very nice smoke with interesting transitions. A little pricey, but great after a big meal.
