Carlos Torano 1916 Cameroon Robusto Cigar Review

This 5.5×52 cedar sleeved stick offers a very dark chocolate wrapper with a dry toothy feel, minimal veins, tight seams, double cap and a peppery tobacco aroma. First light reveals a tight draw with decent smoke output, medium-full body flavors of a very deep, earthy and chocolate tobacco with a pretty short finish. The first third produces much the same experience, adding a touch of sweetness and oil to the finish, but otherwise remaining unchanged. Draw is slightly more open but still snug, producing average smoke. Burn is very good, almost razor sharp. 40 minutes in at the 1/2 way point, flavors shift just slightly, adding in a bit of creamy textured wood and knocking down the big earth a notch. Ending at 1:10 where it got too hot for me, the last third only changed by lengthening the finish, pulling the same deep flavors from the draw. Thank you very much to viewer Jeff Oda for sending this in for review!

Great Review as always Bryan. By watching your videos, I’ve gotten the “courage” to slow down on my smoking, and have found that I get a lot more flavors, straighter burns, and better draws when the cigar is smoked “cool”.

One thing- You forgot to edit your ending.

  • JJO

Haha! Alright, you’re welcome already! LOL

I seem to get more sweetness out of these, but everyone’s perception is different. It’s a good anytime of day smoke for me.

    Thanks for the review.

    • GAH I hate flubups like that. It’s so very rare I lose my train of thought and do a retake, I just totally forget to edit it out of the mix.

No worries, man. It’s good to see that you’re human, too. 😉 Besides, it raises the entertainment value!

        • Ironic that someone just asked me if I would ever show a blooper reel. Well, I hope he saw it while it was up LOL

  • Awww! Apparently, I was late to the blooper party. Me and my buddies have one every year. Bring it, Bryan!

Thanks for the review. I want to try this one as I continue to develop my newbie palate. I’ve had other cigars that I would describe as meeting that profile and I really liked them, so I will have to put this one on the list.

A helicopter is in my neighborhood almost every time I step out for my smoke. This video made me feel right at home!

Another delicious cameroon wrapped beauty. My favorite so far from Torano. Has anyone tried the fortress yet? Has a good pricepoint, curious how it smokes. Great review Bryan…wish I saw the flub.

By far my favorite Torano. I think this is a great everyday smoke and I have never had a burn issue with a single one.

Thanks for your take on one of favorites Brian.
