Arganese Maduro Toro Cigar Review

This 6×50 stick offers a very dark brown first slightly toothy wrapper with minimal veins, tight seams, a double cap and damp sweet musty aroma. First light reveals a very snug draw with minimal smoke output and medium body flavors of a damp bitter tobacco. The first third actually mellos a bit towards mild, with much the same flavors, just a bitter earth taste. Burn is good although the whole stick is going hot and mushy, the cheery feels like it’s a good couple inches below the burn. This is also a cheap dyed cigar, with the dye actually running down the side and staining my lips and fingers. 25 minutes in the ash drops off at the start of the 2nd third, flavors adding a touch of a dry chocolate, the draw opening up just a bit and smoke output up a bit. Burn is perfect, almost razor sharp. The ash holds on in third length chunks but I ended this stick 55 min in at the start of the last third where it just went very hot and mushy Thank you very much to viewer Jeff Oda for sending this in!

Hmm, looks like maybe I sent you a dud? I actually enjoy these as an inexpensive morning smoke, although they’re probably not really consistent. Haven’t noticed the dying effects, although I guess I don’t really pay attention to that.

Sorry you didn’t enjoy it, but I guess that’s the way it goes. 🙁

Bryan – would you know if this Arganese Maduro is a different cigar than the Arganese Maduro Presidente or Chairman? I have read some good things about the latter but the Arganese web site doesn’t even mention them. At first I thought Presidente or Chairman represented the size but I see they also have an additional band on them, as opposed to the Argansese Maduro. Thanks.

JohnG – These used to be produced in different strengths (or body), and the Presidente and Chairman were the full and medium, respectively. I have no idea which one this Maduro equates to, and haven’t been able to glean any info on it from the internet – although I suspect that they would have gone with the medium – or whether the blend was changed at all. I’ve never had any of the discontinued ones to compare to.

    Thanks JJO.

Never tried these. Doesn’t sound like a winner.

I always see these in sampler packs and wonered why, after seeing this review I understand that they’re just the filler in the sampler packs 😉
