Xikar EX Natural Flame Lighter Review

This is a solid, all metal lighter with a spring action top cover to protect the burner and button. It’s actuated by a single thumb button that ignites a wind resistant natural flame, approximately 1″ high. It has quite a heft and feels rugged in the hand, being the prefect size for my larger hands and fingers. With a large bottom thumbscrew for burner adjustment, it gives a total burn time of just under 7 minutes.  Thank you very much to Xikar for sending this for review, I greatly appreciate it!

  • Totally agree with your assessment Bryan. This is one of the best lighters on the market. I use this thing basically every day.

  • Bryan, nice review as usual. I would like to send you additional items for review. Please send me your mailing address. rmoreno@xikar.com
Thank you again for the honest and respected REVIEW!

Thank you for the review. Got the light based on your review and love it. By the way are you on BOTL?

I’ve been looking for a natural flame cigar lighter for some time now. Have you ever used any flint lighters Bryan.

  • SmokeOverFire

    Hey Bryan,
I’ve been watching your reviews for some time now and they’ve definitely enhanced my smoking experience. I’ve checked high and low for a soft flame lighter on all of the major sites and can’t find any, particularly this one. Can you point me in the right direction. Thanks for all of your excellent reviews and help.

Just picked up the EX on your recommendation. I’ve been using matches, spills and a couple cheap ($15 a piece…not really) tourch lighters. So far, I’m really liking it. Thanks for your very thorough review! It really helped my decision.

Its hard to get spills inthe UK. Are they good? I like the idea and think they would help bring out the woody falvour of some cigars.

I’ve been using cheap disposable lighters for a while because i didnt feel like dropping 60 bucks on a lighter. but this lifetime warranty may just sway me

  • Bpope31

Sounds like a top notch lighter. I need a natural flame lighter and looks like this is one if the best ones. Any thoughts on good torch lighters or do they all basically do the same thing?

  • I’ve had this same lighter for about a year now. It performs well, but it needs a good purge and fresh butane. I usually do mine monthly or even more frequently. When it’s got fresh butane it works like a champ even after a year of use.
@Bpope31, Xixar also makes some good torch lighters. Can’t go wrong with their products.

I’ve been looking for a good lighter and this one looks like it will work perfectly for me. Nice review as always.

After listening to you rave about this lighter for so long I think I have to buy one.

    • Bigdave

Let me know where you find them. Thanks

  • Bigdave

I’m having a hard time finding one of these lighters. CI has a Xikar EX that looks similar but its a torch. Thanks

  • Bigdave

I just got one of these from Cigarbid. Its the one with the black accent. Awesome lighter for the price. Love it. Slow Toasting 🙂

  • Bigdave

I love this lighter so much I now own 3 of them. Black, gun metal and brushed silver. 🙂

  • Bigdave

Yeah your exactly right. Its amazing how much better it works after a purge and refill.

  • motionsick

Bryan are you still using this lighter? How is the coil holding up? (had bad experiences with lighter coils in the past)
