La Gloria Cubana Serie R # 4 Maduro Cigar Review

This 4.9×52 stick offers a jet black thick wrapper with slight tooth, minimal veins, tight seams, fairly dense pack and a rich aroma of sweet tobacco. First light reveals a perfect draw, lots of medium bodied smoke with flavors of an oily textured dry tobacco and a heavy finish. The first third transitions to a very smooth deep sweet earth with a very chewy mouthfeel. On the long earthy finish comes a touch of pepper zing over the tongue. 30 min in at the 1/2 way point the only change is a slight creamy coffee during the draw. The ash is still holding on, draw is perfect and the burn is almost razor sharp. 40 minutes in just past the 1/2 way point the ash finally fell off, and flavors changed slightly. The coffee dropped and a sweet licorice joined the finish. The last third showed no changes, continuing the great performance ending at the hour mark. Thank you very much to viewer Brian Hemry for sending in this cigar for review!

Bryan, Great video and a great review of a superb cigar. I watched it to the end and have had the same experience with the ash lasting almost as long and the taste very simular to your description. By the way, I also posted a comment on your facebook.

Incredibly, I have not tried La Gloria Cubana Serie R Maduro yet. I have heard a lot of positive comments about the cigar and your review has reminded me to go out and get a few of these. Thanks for the great review Bryan.

I’m actually smoking one right now and its pretty darn good. Mine isn’t nearly as dark as the one reviewed and the color isn’t 100% uniform by any means….so I don’t think this is a dyed stick. Just watched the video about dyeing cigars and I think this thing is a few steps above an Obsidian (certainly construction wise)

I cant wait till I have a cigar with any flavor. The only flavors I ever get are ,cedar, oak and pepper.Thompsons cigars are priced right ,but maybe I would save money buying good cigars and not wondering if this one is going to burn right,or if it is made right ,etc, etc,.I am a new smoker since April and it seems like thompsons and I guess other companies too, dont really care what they sell as long as they sell.Getting tired of trying to find a cigar with any flavor at all Bill

Love the serie R line. I prefer the natural #5. Good price. I’ve smoked boxes of these and they are very consistant in flavor. A great every day smoke.
