Pinar Del Rio Seleccion Reserva Limitada Torpedo 2010 Cigar Review

This 6.5×52 torpedo stick offers a dark chocolate Pennsylvania broadleaf wrapper with minimal veins, tight seams and a firm pack. First light reveals a firm draw, good smoke production with extremely rich oily medium bodied flavors of nuts, sweetness and earth. The first third develops those flavors while the draw loosens up a bit after another tip cut. The burn is good, and the finish is relatively short and clean keeping an oily earthiness. 30 min in at the 1/2 way point, flavors got deeper going to a big earthy finish, dropping most of the sweetness. I clipped a bit more off and the draw improved quite a bit. The burn needed a couple small touchups but nothing major. Just before the lower band point the flavors shifted to a creamy leather and earth with a very dry airy quality, and a longer dry finish. Ending at 1:20 the last third drops the cream for a dry roasted coffee flavor and the finish picks up a nice kick of spice that lingers for some time. The body remains medium while the strength slowly creeps up to medium-full. Thank you very much to for sending this for review!

Good Job as usual Bryan… thumbs up!

Nice review, Bryan. I just had my first one last night, and like you I prefer the 2007 version. My toro had a rather loose draw, but produced a lot of smoke. Still a good smoke.

Man I’m getting frustrated. I tried these last year and loved them, spent time buying 10 packs to build up my stash. I gave them some time, had a couple bad ones then another fantastic one, now I’ve had three bad ones in a row. Harsh, not much flavor. The toro’s been the most consistent, the double magnum the worst and then the torpedo was great until today….this one is painful. Anyone else struggled with these? I love ’em when they’re good, but the bad is REALLY bad.
