Xikar Xi1 Cutter Review

The Xikar Xi1 series of guillotine cutters offer exceptional performance in a well constructed lightweight package. Featuring dozens of colors and designs, these cutters are well machined to hold firmly in the hand offering easy one-handed operation via spring loaded side blades hinged at the bottom. A flick of the center lever open the blades and the stainless steel blades snip any cigar with precision. Xikar offers a lifetime warranty on this series, and I have used mine for year with trouble-free service. Check out the wide range of designs on their site: Xikar. Photography by BG Pictures.

EDIT: I mistakenly called these Xi3 in the video, they are the Xi1 series. The difference is primarily the lever detail from a bar to a knob.

  • Hi Bryan! Happy New Year! Thanks for the nice review on the Xi1 cutters! All the best! Jerry

Hi Bryan, great review on the Xikar Xi1 cutter. I am looking into purchasing one for myself and was looking on the Xikar website at the cutters upon seeing your review. Xikar cutters appears to have 3 different models the Xi1,Xi2,and Xi3. To me they all look the same in shape with the diffence being knob styles and of course price. With that being said, is there any other difference between the models other than outward appearance and knob design.

  • Not that I am aware of!

  • John

Bryan, good review of these cutters. All Xikar products are of great quality and value and how can you beat a lifetime warranty? I have one of their double torch lighters and it is the only lighter I use and it is as reliable as the Rolex watch on my wrist.

A nice looking cutter. I have been eyeing one for some time. Thanks for the review.

Hi Bryan, thank you for the review.
    Is this cutter scratch resistant?

    • It’s not advertised as such but it’s certainly very tough.

  • barney

good review brother, just picked up the Xi1 today, only used it once, but cut perfect, also have the cuban crafters perfect cutter as well, have used it for years both are top cutters!

  • Orrza

    The best cutter I’ve tried.
I would be happy if the added a rear plate for “correct” and accurate cutting, but still, have it for over a year and it is flawless.

These seem really cool design wise and it looks like its a great cutter. Love the lifetime guarantee. Are there any differences between these and other guillotine cutters or is it just based on your personal preference with shape, feel, etc.

    • Orrza

Personally, I never had the more expensive guillotine cutters, but this one feels great in my hand and the blades still cut like butter.

  • TimB

I had wanted a Xikar for sometime just received a Room 101 today and have to say it’s the best cutter I have used. Clean cut and easy to use should have got one long ago.

I currently have a cheap cutter and I realy like the fit and finish of this product does anyone have any suggested retailers?

  • SsgtJerikUSMC

So I’d really love to buy one of these cutters, I’m just not sure I can justify the price? I bought a cheap cutter form my local B&M and it works “just ok” but enough to get the job done. I think it was like $6. Does anyone know where to get a deal on the Xikar cutter?

    • Orrza

      I got mine on ebay…

    • Derek

I also got mine from eBay. You really can’t go wrong with these.

      • rynie27

        Another +1 for eBay

    • gumby_130

Ci or cigarbid got them the cheapest I think.

    • zanlamb

Its definitely worth investing a good cutter. Cheap ones go blunt quickly and end up making a mess of the cigar. I had to learn this one the hard way.

  • kb9311

Cigar bid, got a Xi2 on the free fall for 15.49 I think they usually retail for 30. Give it a shot!

  • I just bought a Xi1 and I love it. Great cuts! They give you a free sheath when you fill out the warranty form. It was defiantly worth the cost.
