Cohiba Maduro 5 Secretos Cigar Review

This 4.3×40 maduro stick hails from Cuba. Thus this review is more of a free information look and comparison, since most of my viewers will not be able to buy these. The wrapper is dark brown with a firm thick feel, an uneven handmade roll, minimal veins and tight seams. The aroma is rich tobacco with a little pepper. First light reveals a tight draw with plenty of thick medium bodied smoke production and deep earthy flavor. The whole cigar is the same from start to finish as far as flavors go, ending at 45 min to the nub. Rich deep earth, a touch of coffee here and there and some black pepper on the long finish. It holds medium-full both in body and flavor with a perefct draw and burn all the way down. Thank you very much to Jeremie Plouffe for generously sending me this in for review, I greatly appreciate it!

    Dude you dyed your hair.

  • LOL I dye it all the time, just went darker this time 🙂

  • Jeremie

    🙂 !

dye? oh, well, rocky patel dyes his cigars. they’re brushed after assembly. got this from people who actually toured the factory. makes no effort to hide it. so does alec bradley, oliva and cao. they’re all posers.

don osvaldo does not color cigars. they’re mellow, slightly creamy and unpretentious.

I don’t understand how this could be true! Rocky has some super analytic inspection processes and you can find a lot of his cigars online and no matter where you get them, they all look the same. If this dying statement is true, I feel like a chump for loving Rockys cigars

Glynn you always seem to get light headed in the first third. Wondering why that is?

    • Because I can’t take full strength cigars, they kick my ass!!

  • Mo Wanchuck

Have you tried the La Flor Dominicana Double Ligero Chisel?

  • Jcalderon

What can you tell me about the Cohiba Black, really want to buy some but waiting for your review.

  • danny cigar

The great thing about living in Canada in the abundance of cuban cigars, however the duty we pay for cigars that you can buy for example a box for $80 will cost us $300 for the same thing…and there’s so many AMAZING non cuban cigars.

  • lbrinson0002

I would like to hear how much the cigar you are reviewing cost. This one sounds like a winner, as I like the short sticks.

  • Kace

Looking forward to my first cohiba. this may be the one i start with.

  • Camshaft83

Had a Red Dot the other day and thought it was awesome. Really want to try a Cuban one just because. I guess I will have to put this one on my list to look for next time I get out of the states.

I have been working on a box of Genios since last X-mas. I have 16 left and must maintain self control every day or I will have none.

Bryan, your reviews are spot on. I love the fact you don’t fake a review by saying you smoked one and didn’t. You back up your words and opinion by recording almost every moment of the smoke. I feel I can trust you reviews better than some other cigar review. Keep it up. You’re doing great.

    • Thanks man! I think the trust and real-world experience when someone smokes along with me and can get most of the same stuff is what helped the site take off 🙂

      • wcfennell

I agree, after every cigar I smoke I get on the site to see if you reviewed it so I can compare my experience. Before I started watching your reviews I didn’t notice all the flavors, but now that I know what to look for I seem to pay more attention and pick up on all the subtle nuances. Keep it up!

I’ve never had any of their Cubans, but I have to say aside from the Red Dot and the Black I haven’t had too many good Cohibas.

  • Bryan you look like a poor mans tom cruise in this video.

  • Oldschool67

I remember this cigar when i was in cuba and it is one of my absolute favorites. It has a nice earthy tone and a very rich texture to it with almost a woody smell to it. Very good cigar.

  • Orrza

LOL the end shot made laugh hard 🙂
Thanx for the review, I am booking a trip to Cuba soon So I’m happy I had the chance to see this review.

  • DanF

Would love to see you review the Cohiba Black Corona Maduro.

$300 for a box of 25. If I click on my cart I’ll send you a couple.
