Man ‘O War Toro Cigar Review

This 6.5 x52 dark chocolate stick offered a toothy, thick firm wrapper giving tons of rich creamy smoke. Burn was very good, draw was on the loose side with good resistance. Flavors were widely varied with several transition points including cocoa, coffee, leather, wood, cream, pepper and spice in various combinations. The finish was mostly short and clean with some points offering pepper and spice. Thank you to Shuckins for the stick in trade! Photography by BG Pictures.

Everyone says this cigar is strong but I didn’t think it was strong at all…..smooth cigar!

Hey Glynn, great review. I bought a Tin Sampler of these and the Ruinations. Haven’t tried them yet but i sure look forward to it after seeing your review. Do you have any of the Ruination’s in your humi? Would really like to see a review of that one just to see how you compare the two sticks.

  • Nope, so far that’s my only MoW. Thanks!

  • Cliff

Love these. Always have a few of them in the humi. Have to say I like the MoW Virtues a tad more. Same bold flavors with a silky smooth connecticut wrapper.

Bryan, which do you like between this stick and the ruination belicoso. I have a box of the ruination and a ten pack of the regular MOW that came in the mail and I want to compare my tastes and preference to yours. Also do you have a gurkha titan or titan ii in your review backlog, i just got a 10’er of those and am curious as to your thoughts on it. Keep up the good work, love your site, I find myself looking here first before I buy most anything these days!

i had to try a MoW based on this review and i was pleasantly surprised. ive been frustrated in the past with not being able to taste most of the flavors described in many other reviews for other cigars, but with the MoW, i was able to experience most of the changes in strength and flavor you described. hopefully there is more where that came from and im going to pick up some more of these and others in the MoW lineup. thanks!

some additional notes from my records: Man O’ War : dark brown wrapper, toro size. Somewhat sweet smelling wrapper and foot, light cocoa powder. Medium draw, tightly packed, slow burning, only had to be touched up once. Initial draw had a bit of pepper taste, but that was the only pepper for the entire smoke. Overall burn had little to no tobacco (and no pepper), but a light toast? Flavor. About 1/3 -1/2 in, flavors of cocoa powder started and last maybe for a 1/3, then disappeared back into the typical toast flavor. Strength also intensified towards the last third. About 1.5 hour burn time, with about 1.5 inches remaining. Would definitely try again, as well as the other Man O’ Wars.

Good review of a great stick! I get similar flavors to what you describe from these, cream, pepper, coco, and spice, but I also get some vanilla.

Great review. Makes me want to smoke mine right now.

Just got done smoking one of these in a 7.1 x 58 Salomon. It did not disappoint. Full of flavors and at times to many to pick them all out. Sadly had to put it out with about 2 inches left because it started getting hot and a bit to much of that bitter nutty taste which I don’t mind but in this case was overpowering the other flavors. Despite having to put it out early I still got to taste the great flavors for just a little less then 2 hours. I enjoyed it so much in fact that I immediately bought a box in the 7.5 x 52 Double Corona size.

Just got my box in and was thinking about trading some of them with a buddy of mine. I was just wondering if trading for Patel Bros next gen is a good trade or not?

Great stick, lots of great flavor, right there with La Aroma Mi Amor, and La Flor Chisel.
