As of 8am Monday EST this contest and all future contests are cancelled. Multiple entries have had voter fraud committed, and the results are very unfair. Multiple votes have been logged by people simply skirting the rules and spirit of the contest. When I figure out how best to prevent this in the future I may put up more contests.

Alright, we have 12 contestants for this, the second Cigar Obsession Photo Contest 5 Stick Giveaway! The winner will receive a 5 pack of cigars from Cigar Obsession! Voting ends 11:59pm EST Oct 31st and the winner will be announced Nov 1st.
This is a simple contest – pick your favorite and may the best smoker/photographer win! Images are shown in no particular order:

The photos are pretty good, but with photo 10 and 12 already having a crazy lead in votes I suspect that they are engaged in some sort of scam. They are not 25 times better than the rest.
Don’t be a hater dude, It is probably because your pic is losing! 10 and 12 ARE better!
I’m on about 6 cigar forums + twitter + a local cigar club and I’ve told EVERYONE to vote for me.
No scamming going on… we’ve just got our BOTL taking care of us. 
I agree. Not to say all of them aren’t good, but 10 and 12 definitely aren’t better than 4,5 and 8. Those 3 rock! (and no, none of thse are mine. I don’t even like cigars – just the pics)
It would be nice for people to vote on the merit of the pictures as opposed to “hey vote for me because you know me”.
Crazy Al, I’m not a hater nor do I have a photo in the contest. You can verify this with CO. Anytime there is a crazy lead in any poll it is viewed as suspicious. I agree the photos are both very good, but a lead like that set off some alarms especially since the votes just started. If everything is on the up and up, and I certainly hope it is then please accept my apology. We are all BOTL and need to look out for one another. Good luck to all.
Just to be clear, there is no voter fraud going on. I monitor all the voting stats regularly. They are tracked by cookie IP, etc. Yes some people vote on popularity, but that is the way contests work. It’s up to each contestant to help get themselves as many votes as possible and some may be able to get more than others – I’m not involved with that whatsoever.
Good luck to everyone – it’s still VERY early, so don’t draw any conclusions on leads yet, there’s a week to go!!
Stop complaining about the votes. Art is subjective, what you think is better doesn’t mean thats what everyone else thinks is the best.
Art is very social as well. When someone who is part of a group creates great art everyone in that group generally feels good for that person and wants to praise and support that. The “mass votes” is evidence of that.
Everything is ok now, MikeG came to the rescue to voice his opinion. The only problem is that it came many hours after the site moderator was able to instil confidence in the voting. I had a genuine concern and have since been satisfied. Your opinion is subjective and I don’t particulary care for it. There’s always some “hero” coming to the rescue hiding behind their computer.

The mod said there was no fraud, he never gave a reason beyond why so many people would get behind someone and vote for them, which was your concern and still is since you don’t agree with my observations.
You can disagree with my view of art, but attacking me like that makes me no more than a computer boxer than you are.

I don’t need people popping off on me after the site moderator has made his statement. And how does someone say stop being a douche. Think about that statement. Doesnt seem as if there was name calling prior to that. Real mature, but that just confirms your lack of education.
Wasn’t me who said the douche stuff, but for real having maturity also means holding back and seeing what others points are and disagreeing with a persons opinions respectfully. Your response to me was not mature, so don’t tell others to be.
My original post was not in response to you fully, but rather to all that felt that it was wrong for someone to have a community back them up and vote for them. I believe “Amanda” had the same concern. Look up, my comment was not made in direct reply to any of your posts.
That’s all I’m saying dude and I would have made my first post the last but an immature translation of my original post was made by you, and the rest is history. I’m not trying to be a hero, I was simply providing a reason as to why this mass voting thing is going down.
MikeG, I have since moved on and was not pleased by the guy named “hey rodney”. I thought it was inappropriate of him to start name calling and it wasnt taken well after I just woke up 10 minutes prior. I’m not trying to offend anyone and I apologize MikeG that I was less than professional to you. You are absolutely right that everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Wow all this bickering. I am not going to say which picture is mine, but all I did was post in one cigar forum to inform people to come out and vote. Hell, I even listed the picture numbers for others in that forum that are part of the contest. I have no problem with people going out and asking their friends to vote and I am apart of the contest. With 6 days to go there is still a lot of time for the pictures that are behind to catch up. Look at #4, it barely had any votes when all this bickering started, now it is in the lead.
Do you smoke em with the cello on, or off? Do you take the wrappers off too? Thats usually the first thing I do. Nice pic submission by everyone in the contest!
Everyone needs to lighten up, its just a simple little giveaway! Its not like the Nobel Peace Prize. Oh wait, bad example!
Some great submissions guys/gals. I think the more traffic we can create the better we can spread our love of the leaf. And if the spinoff is more votes that’s even better!:o)

Let me make just one comment regarding trends. You can’t predict them. As a photographer/artist myself, I am often shocked by what people like, compared to my own taste. For a relevant example, I might spend an afternoon playing here and taking some of the Cigar Art shots I post daily. I might have a dozen or so ready, and I tend to hold back my least favorite ones for when I’m running low. Almost without exception, my personal favs hardly get noticed, and the ones I have been putting off get big praise. You never know what people will like or why!
OK, well, it seems that a few of you have now ruined this experience.
Voter fraud has now been detected by some of you, yes at least one of you in this discussion.
Yes clearing your cookies, cache and getting a new IP is easy for some of you, especially those at universities. Unfortunately that also means some of you have done so and piled on dozens of votes and ruined this contest.
Until I find a way to make this more secure and fair I won’t bother with future contests like this either, since obviously some people aren’t adult enough to play by the rules.
Way to go guys.

So what, I told my friends and some guys in my class to help Tim out. Sorry there are too many students voting.
I know where the mass votes from udel.edu came from. A buddy posted in a thread on one of the forums that I’m on that he voted from several public computers in his computer lab. I apologize for this contest getting screwed up, especially to the others in the contest.
mine only received one vote… it was me. i dont think i had any part in this voter fraud. nor did i stand a chance to win.
Wonderful, Something that was meant to be fun has totally become twisted. Bryan, can you just ban their submissions and keep the contest going?
Until I am confident that I can sufficiently prevent it from happening again I do not care to waste my time and money on such a thing. I don’t like having to weed through IP logs just for a fun contest. Punishing a contestant *may* not be fair also, as only one is suspected of being a direct cheater at this point. It’s just not worth the effort right now, sorry.
And just to clarify, Tim’s wasn’t the only entry with mass votes like that from a school. #4 also had the same kind of stuff going on – it was just more covert and took a while to see the pattern.

Im not very happy about the fact that because i have a mass amount of votes im now a cheater (#4)….I have over 600 friends on facebook and just posted that they should vote as my status. That has nothing to do with cheating….sry that people seem to like the black and white photo weve published.
And it seems very suspicious and funny to me that every time we get more votes on our picture #10 has to rush to find more ppl to out vote us its been happening every single time were ahead!

Yeah, it’d be sweet if you could take my IP off of here. And so what if Riley and Sasha got a lot of votes at NMU? I can tell you that they were both close to a lot of people up there, and when I got this link on Facebook I checked out all of the pictures and found his to be the best, that’s why I voted for it…

I am not accusing anyone specific of anything. I suspect, nothing more. It’s clear there was at the very least, one big cheater, whoever it may have been. Beyond that is speculation.
Then disqualify us so be it its 5 cigars really?! This is funny that seriously people have to get on here and bicker and fight about whose winning the contest. Get over it everyone were adults not children from what i thought. Maybe im wrong, from the posts above im apparently wrong.
and just to clarify there was NEVER cheating on our end. I ask my friends to vote for my picture and thats what was done!
Ok so it is easy to to change your IP address and vote again but most people would not go through the hassle. But when you ping off a new router like on a college campus it can change your IP and if someone looks at the contest they go o i can vote again? and just do it so they can see the votes. This can happen but face book can happen too where all your friends on campus get a message from you saying vote for me and you usually do it all at one time so yes their are alot of people voting from that internet connection at the same or very close time. Just trying to clear some things up thank you for listing and i hope their is a way to prevent this but im not sure if it is possible….
Well were pissed that you have pretty much said we were cheating! Thats false i would tell you now if we were. It had nothing to do with winning the cigars I just thought that the picture we designed came out sweet and so did our friends. Therefore they voted for it….the guy above said he was in 6 forums and TOLD people to vote for him. How is that any different? Its not! Therefore we were not cheating in any form!
Bryan please remove all of the IP Addresses that you have posted for everyone to see those belong to people and dont need to be on here its apparent that youve canceled the contest so please remove them! Thanks!
There is no reason to do that. They are not directly associated with anyone in particular.
there is every reason to do that people can take those IP addresses and get into someones computer in certain ways! Take them off!
