Padron 1926 80 Years Cigar Review

Posted on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 in Cigar Reviews

Wow – on so many levels. First and foremost this $30 stick delivered on it’s price, for what it is. It offered a rich smooth plentiful full bodied smoke with a long full finish. Excellent burn and draw with no issues. Flavors included leather, a sweet oil, hints of nuts, lots of deep heavy earth notes, pepper kicks and more. A strong word of warning – this is NOT for anything but the experienced smoker that likes a long lasting powerhouse. This is a knockout even on a full stomach and lasts 2 1/2 hours.

Nice review, seems like a great stick! Deff expensive, I love Padron’s though and are very worth there price. I have a 40 years waiting to be smoked, do you plan on reviewing that one?

Great review, but this is WAY too full for my wussy self ;) Sounds like a great stick if you like the fullness! I think they are overpriced, but, I guess you get what you pay for.

So which one did you like better the 1964 or 1926? This review makes me want to go have a smoke right now, lol. I have a 64 in my humi now, I will have to pick a 1926 up and let it age for awhile before I smoke it. How long did you age your cigar?

  5. Bryan Glynn says:

My personal taste says the 1964 hands down. Much more complex, better flavors to me, less strong and shorter. My 1926 aged for 7 mos.

Great review. I agree. I like the 1964 better. A client purchased a box of 5 for me a few months back, smoked 2 already….rest for aging.

This is a cigar that smokes YOU not you smoke it. Very strong. Much stronger then the Camacho Triple Maduro.

I had to sit down for an hour after smoking this one.

I don’t think it’s worth $30 per stick. Plenty of other smokes better, could buy a couple of 1964s :)

As I am typing, I am having this puppy now. Jeeze, this sucker is a long smoke! I’m @ 1/2 way point & it’s over an hour. Really slow burn & the finish is really long. It just goes & goes.

I was kinda nervous about it after watching your review; so, a couple of these have been sitting in my humidor for awhile. But, I had really spicey Indian food & got myself a nice milk tea (which is my drink of choice for full flavored stix) & decided to give it a go.

Not much of a strength kick for me, but then it might be because I ‘dip’ on occasion. So, it’ll take a bit 4 me to have a nicotine rush from cigars. I love the the flavors tho’. Very consistent throughout.

Is it worth +$30? For me, as a special occasion cigar, most definitely. Very long lasting cigar w/ flavor profiles I enjoy.

As always, thanks for the review. It helped me prep for the cigar so that it would be an enjoyable experience for me.

    This is Maduro though correct?

Man I do not think it gets much better than this cigar. I have to differ with its strength it is not that strong. I’ve never been light headed from this stick. If this was strong to you than stay clear away from lfd. Padron is the king with consistently. They are great every year. It’s why I always come back for more.

Great review Bryan. As someone who doesn’t have the stomach for full strength cigars this is one I don’t think I will ever try. But getting to watch you describe it makes me wish I could.

I also like full bodied cigars but like you not much of a fan of the strength of some of these cigars. I’ve seen your other videos where you would take breaks to have a spoonful of sugar. I’ve never tried it but is that just some old wives tale or is there something in sugar that helps with the nicotine rush?

This is one of my all time favorite cigars!
